Dear Clay County Dental Society Members,

As Summer flies by, it is hard to believe it’s time once again to start thinking about the new year with regard to our local dental societies. As the Clay County Dental Society’s new president, I am excited and honored to lead this wonderful group of dedicated professionals. The CCDS has consistently enjoyed the highest percentage membership rates, and I hope we continue with this remarkable trend.

In 2005, when I moved to Orange Park and joined the CCDS, I was instantly impressed with the closeness of the group and the comradery within its membership. The level of participation and volunteerism I witnessed within the group was truly extraordinary. I was personally affected by how welcoming, helpful and inclusive everyone was to me. I will always appreciate all the support membership has provided me, and the comfort of knowing that being in solo practice, did not mean I was practicing alone in Orange Park.

My goal is to continue to increase our membership so that others can experience what I did. We have another exciting year in the works. Our meetings will be at the Orange Park Country Club, with an upgraded menu, including pecan red snapper and filet mignon among other favorites. Meeting dates are Sept 14, 2011, Nov 9, 2011, Feb 8, 2012, Apr 11, 2012. There is also a combined NEDDA/JDS/CCDS all-day speaker meeting Mar 16, 2012 at TPC Sawgrass. Our staff appreciation outing is slated for this Fall.

I send a special thank you to Greg Archambault, Doug Reed, Curt Standish, and Julie Geiger for generously volunteering so much time at our local Clay County Dental Clinic. I would also like to thank our past president, Michael McClure for his stellar service this past year. I look forward to working with our dedicated board and members to make this another successful year for the CCDS.

Sincerely,

Michael Vanover, DDS
CCDS President, 2011
